I never expected the amount of amazing opportunities in my career can happen when I became self employed & created Sheariously from home 5 years ago. I may not work in a typical Salon atmosphere & I LOVE IT THAT WAY!
I believe this to be true ---> It doesn't matter the location where you do your expertise... all that matters is you have Passion for what you create. I just happen to do my passion in a space in my 802 sq.ft home! My Petite Palace!
Yes, I work from home {in my basement} & yes, I'm PROUD of it as I have invest time/money to equipped my business in a professional manner [Business license with the city, certified Journeyman & continued education] to give optimal experience to those who visit me in the chair. I am well aware it isn't for every Entrepreneur & Client to obtain/attend a home base business & that's ok if that isn't your path to follow. Do you always & this is my 'Do'.
From the beginning of opening Sheariously, I conducted boundaries to develop a smooth running business.
No, I don't take walk-in's nor double-book myself. I love not 'hustling' back to back to back with Clients as I did working in a Salon. I prefer investing my time with 1 Guest at a time. This is how I operate my Business & again I love it that way; that's why I'm not your average Hair Stylist.
BALANCE & BOUNDARIES are keys to be able to continue my journey as a Mother, Wife & Professional Independent Hairstylist to the best of my abilities. My values are my priorities & as I grow, my business will evolve. I embrace my entire life adventure. A little tid-bit - EMBRACE is my empower word. I have it tattoo'd on my wrist.
As of now, I still enjoy the best of both worlds of Family life & Business life in one little hive. I've continuously contemplated on the ideas of moving my business out of my home when my Son enters middle school.
Always looking to level up in my Business - Is this the next step? Will this provide me fulfillment? The path is unknown but intriguing.
The other option & vision is to buy a bigger home that would have an ideal layout that I can have a Salon space that is a bit more separated from the home. We shall see what the future brings for Sheariously.
I do miss aspects of working in a Salon - team collabs & being inspired seeing other Artists creating their master pieces from start to finish but overly I enjoy being in control of my own business journey...only child syndrome?!?! LOL! I rather own my own fails when they arise.
But on the real, being self-employed isn't all glitz & glamour. It definitely comes with its struggles & continuous hard work.
Want to know what type of Hairstylist I am beside not your Average?
Well, took years to figure & narrow down what I love about about colouring hair. My skills will forever evolve & that is an aspect I love about the industry. Continuous growth of knowledge & education.
The hair industry has so many angles of opportunities that showcases each Hair Artist journey of creation.
The title I have declared for my craft:
Longevity Hairstylist
What does that mean? Let me give you the details...
